*After a year of filming skateboarding in various countries such as in China, Spain, Netherlands, Germany, Malaysia, France, Korea, Thailand, Sweden, Singapore, United States, Poland, Hong Kong, Morocco and even Vietnam, Translations is now complete. It was not an easy task to film skateboarding in unexplored environments and foreign cultures. Dealing with sketchy Police Officers in Morocco, food poisoning in Asia, searching for skateboarding spots on Mopeds in Vietnam, was part of our everyday challenges while shooting for Translations. This film features the skateboarding of Nolan Lee, Malcolm Tallgard, Max Beinhofer, Samuel Beyer, Patrick Boes, Daniel Hochman, Michael Mackrodt and various friends from around the world. This film is sponsored by Homegrown Skateshop, 8103 Clothing and Nike SB shoes.

me: Can you give us some background info on the Visual Traveling project ?
Well it pretty much started with me filming a bunch of my friends back in Barcelona last year,
and throughout this and last year we traveled to a bunch of places around the world, and
it was the best decision for me to commit to a full length video. Otherwise all that precious
footage would of ended up on the web or in podcasts, so we pretty much saved all that
and will present all that to you in "Translations"!
me : What's the story behind the title?
There isn't a big story behind the meaning of "Translations", I was thinking of having a title
which reflects traveling and languages. Especially since most of the rides are from different
nationalities, such as European, African, Asian, American, everyone speaks different languages
and translating is the only way people can communicate. But once you see the Intro for this
Film it will maybe make a little more sense!
me : How is this video different from other skate video ?
Well firstly you will see footage from over 15 different countries, I don't think too many other
videos have such a variety of locations. The seven riders might not be the most famous
Skateboarders up to date, but you will be surprised what we were able to gather under difficult
circumstances. Some countries its just hard to film Skateboarding, such as in Vietnam, but
we were able to get amazing footage.
me : Where do you plan to travel soon?
Well I am going back to Vietnam and Thailand with my girlfriend in the Winter, but in the
Skateboarding context, I am planning a Transsiberia Tour, take the train from Moscow,
to China, Film in Moscow then in Beijing and then from there maybe to India, don't know
yet exactly but some friends are already interested in coming along, so I hope that should
work out for next summer. We'll see. But I got some destination where people haven't been
skating yet, but need someone to sponsor them.
me : How would you describe the Malaysian skate scene in the short time you were there?
It seemed liked there were a bunch of kids on boards which I was hyped on, the spots were
amazing in Kuala Lumpur, and Kieron hooked it up, he knew where the hidden spots were.
And everyone else I met out there were really nice and I am looking forward on seeing the next SkateMalaysia Video.
