UNDER FEET Vol: 1 (VCD) Running time: 48min $
Why is there an opening teaser of this skate video since I am watching the real video? I don’t get it? It’s says Under Feet vol: 1 coming soon... But isn’t this the vol: 1? The opening intro was a bit too long. It took me a while waiting for the skate part and that’s kinda bad for a start. Anyway, this is your basic skateboard video magazine from Indonesia. They got many sections which includes Road trip with Emotional Team, several skate demos and competition coverage from Volcom Skate Jam O’Rama in Yogyakarta, City Surf Open in Surabaya and various ISA competitions. They also have Check Spot with Eric Nipam (Wasn’t it Spot Check?), which is not really a good one as they only shown the same spot at Senayan. Also includes a day in life profile with Ardy Polly in “In My Lovely Day†section. His part was the only part that I wanted to see coz Ardy was an old school skaters there and he also ride pools and vert. He is also one of Indonesian Skateboard Association active members. Good to see some old skaters still kick ass. The rest were ok. There was like lots of commercials / ads at every ending part of each section. Most of the skating part did use some effects plus the slow motion effects just like the one in On Video skate video. At first it was really good, but it seems they have been using the effect like most of it and most of the section which is kind of bores me a lot, plus with the slow music. Talking bout music, they should have put out more of their local music as soundtrack instead of putting music from Moby, Gorillaz, Rufio, etc. I thought Indonesian have so many good bands? Don’t they? The night skating part using the night vision mode is a bad idea, plus they also shoots mostly on the backside angle of the skaters which is also a bad one. The ending / credits part were too long either. Plus they even showed some footage and info for the next issue. I think I saw Pa’Din caught in the action at the Volcom Wild in the Park. Overall, the skating is good. If you have not seen any skaters from Indonesia yet. Then you all should watch out for these few well known skaters in this video like Tony Fakie, Tony Sruntul, Indra Leonard, Rian Nuvianus, Reno Pratama, Rino Herman, Agung HB, and Rinron (this guy doing old school tricks like layback 50, 360 Bertlemen slide, FS Bertlemen to disaster). One more thing, the video resolution and quality is bad. Maybe they edited it in a bad video card computer. Just a guess…. Besides the DVD packaging style is nice. I would give South East Asia Video Magazine a chance since this is their first project. Hope the next issue would be much better.
