Malaysian Skateboard History Documentary projects!

Perhatian pada semua rakan2 extreme!!! Kami akan mengeluarkan sebuah "documentary" rencana mengenai sejarah skateboard Malaysia. Akan d**eluarkan dlm bentuk DVD.

Kami meminta kerjasama anda sekiranya anda mempunyai kawan, saudara mara, kawan punya kawan ke, saudara punya kawan lama ke, member ofis, pakcik ke, ayah ke, etc yang pernah involved dalam dunia skateboard sejak tahun 80an - awal 90an. Jika ada, mungkin anda boleh membantu kami.

Apa yang kami mahu?
- skateboard complete ataupun deck sahaja dari 80-awal 90an (untuk tangkap gambar board tersebut bersama owner)
- keratan akhbar / majalah mengenai skateboarders, acara skateboard dari 80an - awal 90an (utk discan)
- flyers acara pertandingan atau demo skateboard dari 80an - awal 90an (utk discan)
- gambar 2 acara skateboard seperti demo, pertandingan ataupun tempat2 yang terkenal buat skaters 80an - awal 90an (utk discan)
- iklan komersial skateboard ataupun rancangan skateboard Malaysia dari 80 - awal 90an. (akan di copy ke av dvd format)
- video2 home video yang d**eluarkan sendiri oleh pemain2 skateboard dari 80an - awal 90an. Contoh home video adalah seperti Celebrity Tropical Ikan (1992), Panorama 1st (1993), etc..kami mahu footgae ini utk documentary ini. (utk diconvert kan ke avi dvd format)
- maklumat skaters2 pro dan terkenal dulu seperti dimanakah mereka sekarang dan apa yang mereka buat skarng. Ini dpt membatu kami menemuramah mereka. (utk shoot mereka jika perlu)

Pertolongan anda amat dialu-alukan. Setiap individu yang membantu akan mendapat saguhati dari DVD ini. Nama mereka akan di kreditkan, dan macam2 lagi la.

start this projects 3 years ago and have been trying to contcat old school skaters to request their old photos and stuff. Currently i managed to get photos only just for 3 years man. Yes a documentary project is not easy. A friend of mine from Hong Kong did a documentary of Hong Kong skateboarding dvd and it took them 10 yeas to complete it.

Well that's it and hell i need more man..... this pictures will be used in the documentary. Some will put out as bonus footage of pic gallery maybe...or maybe a booklet of good old school pic comes with the DVD. Who knows!!

I was hoping See Hin, Kuma, Megat, hans, Hussein, Budiman, Sunny, keiron contribute theirs..i still need 80% of pic man.. Pls support this project and pls help us and we need your support and contribution very very much. Copy of DVD will be yours and name will be credit in the DVD.

We ain;t doin this for fame..we doin it coz we love skateboarding and we don't want Malaysian young generation to forget the roots of Malaysian skateboarding scene!!

Photos, skate competition or demo flyers back then in early 90's or late 80's. Video footage of contest of home skate video in that era...i nee those things first then i 'll asked question..interview, etc is the last part of this documentary..i need photos so i can came out a question..like who are those skate organisers, who were the judges back then, how much iare the boards last time and where do they get it from, etc....

yeah thanx Adrian..i do hope he managed to get them coz the owner of the shop kinda marah at him coz borrow them for 2 months before this. Should have pass them to me once had the chances..i do hope the owner can borrow them again la..

The pacific sports pic is very usefull coz they have a comp pic in Bngsar which is happened aroun 87...in my point of view. If there's a competition in 87 then skateboard scene should have started earlier than that..maybe 1985... I had a friend who is very old school in Singapore and he tld me that skateboard scene there started in 1983...so Malaysia might be late a little bit...

heh...yeah...he had the pics for quite a while...

but the bangsar comp was a lot later. i think around 91 if i'm not mistaken. cos i was studying in singapore at the time and it happened then. but i'm sure skateboarding started relatively early in malaysia. not as early as in singapore maybe (cos they got so many international school kids there). i remember i had a plastic skinny deck around 85-86. then i got a longer fibreglass board around the end of 86.

i moved up to a bullet shaped board from some toy shop in sec 14 in 87 (for sure...cos hans and i cut it up like a hosoi hammerhead at the end of the school year - we went for some school trip to pangkor i remember and we tried using the now hammerhead deck as a skim board)

and around 88, i had to get a variflex (from the same sec 14 toyshop) cos the hammerhead deck was super koyak already. it was around this time that we discovered pacific gold...cos hans bought his first complete deck from there. budak kaya mah.

Yeah..but hey..check the pic in your multiply. The bangsar comp confusing me. The album says Cocal Cola comp 1990 in Bangsar but then the pic had digital date printed 31 march 1987 and 1st April 1987. Which one was the right one...?

yeah the 1991 bangsar comp i do remember. Saw Kuma on tv3 news doing a boardslide on the rail of the fun box..

i still think it was in 90-91. the reason for the camera dating could be that the date in the camera wasn't set. you know lah...tukar battery, date tak change.

korang nak cari southern region (JB to be exact) try mintak kat Bobby (aziz hisham), utk 87-94, Man Pro 90-97(98?99?) AriGato (89-97)...paling best kalau ko dpt cari Che Mad.. dia photographer dan ada home made Video for whole 97..

hmmm aku tak sure dpt buat semua..akan cuba but if hang ada contact depa pls PM aku or e-mail kat aku..nanti aku kontact mereka..aku so far dpt byk source KL, Selangor area..Ipoh dan Penang. Lain tarak.

Otai skaters JB yg aku tau masih skate Boy JB. Bobby aku lost contact. last jumpa dia kat mid valley bersama wife dia (Cina kan?)

Acai kelembai DEP aku kenal sebab aku pun main band. Nanti aku cuba tanya sesiapa yg ada kontact depa. BUt most aku tumpu kat KL, Selangor..yg lain tu cam skit2 je..cam hang kata bila scene skate tu start disana...KL scene start around 85-86. Semalam budak paling lama yg dtg ialah Adrian Ho (86) See Hin dan Terence C (86). Sebab comp semua byk berlaku di ibu kota je. Kalau comp di bandar kecik aku ambil satu dua comp yg terawal je. Yg nostalgia je..contoh kalau comp Kuantan yg first jatuh pada tahun 1997.Aku leh consider la sebab itu je yg terawal. IF Penang punya comp demo terawal dlm tahun 1992-1994..aku cuma ambik yg 2-3 terawal je..lepas tahun 1995 aku tak concentrate..anyway ni semua idea dan cadangan awal..anything can change it the future..

Aku appreciate if hang dpt tolong aku. Aku tak nak tumpu scene after 1995. After 1995 aku hanya buka citer sedikit comp yg orgaised oleh MESSA zaman2 geng Agus skit..then skip ke X-Games dan sapakah old school skaters yg telah berjaya dan pergi jauh..then tanya pendapat org ramai mengenai mereka. Sapakah mereka? Well Pa'Din, Joe Ipoh dan Keiron aka Niki..depa je la yg old school dan dah berjaya ..ada company sendiri dan sponsor dan juga wakil MAlaysia...sebab kalau nak terperinci sgt 4 jam punya DVD pun tak muat. MAu 2 DVD documentary ni.

So skaters aku tumpu dari zaman 85-95
Perkembangan scene dari 1985 - terkini (ini termasuk skateshop dan skatepark yg dibuka satu demi satu di Malaysia)

Ok thanx..yes aku notice deck tu..adrian pun dah correctkan aku balik sebab depa tau event tu..depa ada masa tu ngan Kumar semua....camera tu set salah date...first board aku tahun 88 California Pro..then hilang...pinjam deck kawan dan beli my first pro board in 1991. Sebab bawak parents pi Pacific Gold sg wang tu dia..RM 800 for complete skateboard... so kena tunggu B'Day aku yg kebarapa entah..naik bas ngan Joe Ipoh sama member aku..aku pun pau auntie aku yg beria nak beli present aku..so aku pau skateboard complete kat bawah lot 10... Resit tu masih ada lagi..ada kat forum ni punya thread old school trivia..

Tak silap aku ada perasan deck slick tak sure which copamy punya kat kedai tudian kat Sg Wang last month...wei Yus..hang tak akan tak ada gambor...pinjam la scan..aku dok keramat je...meh umah aku la kala takut aku curi gambor tu....gambor demo Klang masa Timo ada..kut2 ada gambor aku terselit ke..aku kan dijemput oleh Padin utk buat demo ngan Joe Ipoh. Wakil dari Ipoh...aku lauch over kereta masa tu..ada few budak andals yg shoot tapi aku tak pernah ada gambar tu..kenangan tu..sapa percaya aku yg cam ni leh lauch over kereta...
